I don’t pretend to know much, (probably not the best way to start off a blog post but hang in there with me) but I have learned a couple of things along the way. If there is one thing I could share with you today, it would be this: Everything takes time.
There are no miracle moments in ministry. I heard this once and I would like to pass it on to you. Consider the egg…we never see the egg evolving into a chick, but I can assure you the egg does not crack as the result of some overnight metamorphosis. It takes time for the chick to develop, to grow, and to incubate. When it finally hatches, it does so as simply one more step in a long chain of steps.
So what does this mean for us? Everything takes time. Patience is a must. Allow the Holy Spirit to cultivate the fruit of patience in your life. Find value in what God is doing in your life right now. Or to put it another way, don’t despise the days of small beginnings. God never wastes a minute of our lives. He can and is using you right now. He is developing you even when we are unaware.
I think if we’re not careful, we fail to appreciate what God is doing right now. It is easy to get lost waiting and dreaming for what God will do in a distant land we call one day.
I leave you with the words of Christ in Matthew 6:34, “Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Let’s focus on what God has called us to do right now.
